Puerto Galera is within the jurisdiction of Region IV-B (MIMAROPA), in the province of Oriental Mindoro. The municipality is bounded on the north by the Verde Island Passage, Mt. Baco and Mt. Malasimbo in the south. Its adjacent municipalities are Abra De Ilog, a municipality of Occidental Mindoro located on the northwest of the municipality and the Municipality of San Teodoro on the northeast.
姓名
波多格雷拉（Puerto Galera）的名字来源于西班牙语“帆船港”。它成立于1927年12月7日，当时菲律宾国会通过了第3415号法案，创建了波多格雷拉市。
